Student Leaders

Student Leadership provides students with the opportunity to develop real-world leadership skills in a supportive environment. As they mentor and encourage younger students, they strengthen their communication, confidence, responsibility, and teamwork. Student Leaders also experience the satisfaction of using their knowledge and skills to help others grow, celebrating the progress and achievements of those they guide while continuing to develop as martial artists themselves.

Requirements for Student Leadership

3 Leadership Trainings and 1 Overnight Camp

Attend three Student Leadership Training sessions held on Saturday afternoons at HK Martial Arts. These trainings provide hands-on instruction in leadership techniques, teaching methods, communication skills, and mentoring strategies to help students become confident and effective leaders. Overnight Leadership Campout with all Student Leader recruits will be held after the sessions are completed.

Continued respectful attitude and attendance

Student Leadership is open to students who are recommended based on their positive attitude, consistent attendance, and willingness to assist others in class. Candidates demonstrate strong character, reliability, and a commitment to supporting both their fellow students and instructors.

Ability to help with beginner classes weekly

Student Leaders will work with HK Martial Arts staff to select a weekly beginner class where they can gain hands-on leadership experience. During these classes, Student Leaders will learn effective teaching techniques, assist staff, mentor  students, and build the confidence and skills needed to become positive role models.

Leadership Journey

The Student Leader Journey is designed to guide both new and experienced Student Leaders as they develop their leadership abilities. Each step builds upon the previous one, providing opportunities to strengthen teaching skills, expand responsibilities, and continue growing as confident, capable leaders.
